Exhibitors
An informal chance to meet our teams face-to-face, hear our news, quiz our experts on technology, products and research, and get involved in changing the world for people who are deaf or hard of hearing. Communications support will be available through British Sign Language (BSL) interpreters.
- Technology and Products (Room 1): Try out the latest gadgets, phones and text-telephony solutions and put questions to our Product Evaluation Team. See a live demonstration of our computer generated “avatar” giving instant access to a BSL translator online. You can help shape the future by interacting with our latest projects in this inspiring showcase.
- Biomedical Research (Room 1): Meet our Research Team and discover how RNID-funded science is working towards preventing hearing loss, improving hearing and, ultimately, restoring natural hearing. See how a cochlear implant works and look down a microscope at the delicate structures within the ear that allow us to hear.
- Regional Services (Room 2): Get help and information on all aspects of hearing loss, and find out about our community support and equipment services. Why not book a speaker for your local club, church group or retirement fellowship? Pick up a selection of our information leaflets and, best of all, have a chat with your local RNID Information Officer.
- Campaigns (Room 2): We are constantly campaigning to remove barriers faced by people who are deaf or hard of hearing in everyday life. We encourage everyone to value their hearing and take early action if it starts to worsen. Your help is essential to our campaigning success. Learn about our recent achievements, latest plans and how you can get involved. There are lots of quick and easy things you can do, from writing to your MP to promoting our hearing check to your friends and family.
- Care Services (Room 3): The RNID Workshop in Bath supports adults who are deaf and have additional needs in a wide range of craft skills. Visit our stall to buy lovely handmade gifts and cards ready for Christmas. Have a chat to our staff and meet people who use the services we provide.
- Membership and One in Seven (Room 3): Meet the people who bring you your information, celebrity stories and reflect your viewpoints in our award-winning members’ magazine, One in Seven. Your opportunity to tell them in person if they’re getting it right and what you’d like to see more of in future, as well as sharing your own stories! We look forward to meeting current members and inviting others to join.
- Fundraising (Room 2): Want to help our vital work continue? Find out about the many ways you can support RNID. Anything from shaking a collecting tin at your a local supermarket, baking cakes or washing cars, to thinking about a gift in your will once you’ve taken care of your loved ones. If you really want a year to remember, why not challenge yourself on one of our overseas events?
- Volunteering (Room 2): Our volunteers make a wonderfully positive difference in so many ways, including supporting new hearing-aid wearers, helping to maintain equipment, testing new technology, delivering training, mentoring young people, talking to community groups, and helping to keep our administration running smoothly. Perhaps you might think about joining them?
