RNID: For deaf and hard of hearing people.

We are one of only two assessment centres in London to offer this qualification, which means we can train students to become registered interpreters. There is a chronic shortage of sign language interpreters, and this new status means we can help to increase the number of interpreters.

Marilyn Osborne, deputy director of training and development says, "This is a phenomenal achievement for the communication training team. It confirms that our strategy to maintain the highest training standards delivered by deaf tutors is the right one. This is a truly exciting time for us as we strive to grow the BSL and interpreting training infrastructure across the UK."

Potential candidates will attend an information and selection day on 14 December 2005 or 26 January 2006. The assessment process commences in April 2006.
