RNID: For deaf and hard of hearing people.

We have attended all three party conferences for eight years. Being at the party conferences allows us to engage with politicians on issues that are important to deaf and hard of hearing people.

Our exhibition stand this year features an old style red phone box, where the hearing test can be taken, and a model office. The office shows some simple changes that can be made to workplaces to improve access for deaf and hard of hearing people, such as installing induction loop systems and flashing smoke alarms.

We are holding events for politicians and delegates at the conferences were we'll be debating 'Welfare Reform: The way forward'. This covers how employers can help enable disabled people to get into work and remain in work.

At the events our speakers include Danny Alexander MP, the Liberal Democrat Shadow Minister for Disabled people, Jeremy Hunt MP, the Conservative Shadow Minister for Disabled people, and Margaret Hodge MP, the Minister for Trade and Industry with responsibility for small businesses.

We are pleased to be working, once again, with UnumProvident, a leading disability insurer at the party conferences. We're also proud that our exhibition stand was awarded 'Best stand' by delegates at both the Liberal Democrat conference and at the Labour party conference.
