After five years as Chief Executive, Dr John Low will be leaving RNID, the national charity representing the UK’s 9 million deaf and hard of hearing people, to lead the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) from August 1, 2007.
Under John’s leadership, RNID has had a very significant impact on the lives of deaf and hard of hearing people. It has been instrumental in the reform of public services, and through our innovative impact reporting has promoted transparency and accountability in the sector.
RNID Chairman James Strachan said: "John Low has been been an outstanding Chief Executive for RNID. Under John the organisation has dramatically improved the quality of life for literally millions of people, reforming NHS hearing aid services, increasing access to subtitles, ensuring early years support for deaf children, advancing sign language provision and through the world’s largest programme of biomedical research into hearing loss."
John said: "I am very proud to have had the opportunity to lead one of the country’s most outstanding organisations and leave fully confident that RNID will continue to deliver real change for millions of deaf and hard of hearing people."
