Andrew 'Freddie' Flintoff is calling on aspiring athletes to sign up for a 'wicket time' at this year's Great North Run and raise vital funds for RNID's research programmes and services for people who are deaf or hard of hearing.
The England all-rounder is urging people to register for RNID's guaranteed places at the world’s biggest half marathon, which takes place on Sunday 20 September 2009. The places are available on a first-come, first-served basis to fundraisers who pay a £40 registration fee before the 17 July 2009 deadline and raise a minimum of £325.
Andrew Flintoff says: "If you're in the running for a place at this year's Great North Run, make sure you don't get caught out and sign up for RNID's team whilst you can.
"Not only will you be raising vital funds to help RNID change the world for people who are deaf or hard of hearing, you'll be bowled over by the fantastic camaraderie of the country's most famous half marathon!"
Money raised by fundraisers pounding the 13-mile route from Newcastle to South Shields will help fund RNID's services, which provide essential support for deaf and hard of hearing people, and the charity's research into understanding the causes of hearing loss.
