    Tune out tinnitus

    There are 7 million people in the UK who have tinnitus. Our tune out tinnitus site gives information and advice to people who have just been diagnosed or think that they may have tinnitus.

    Breaking the Sound Barrier

    There are around 4 million of us in the UK losing our hearing and not doing anything about it. Could you be one of them? If you are concerned about your hearing, take our telephone hearing check by calling (local rate number) 0845 600 5555 – it only takes five minutes.

    pd4me

    The pd4me website (external link, opens new browser window) is the first ever professional development resource for sign language interpreters and other language service professionals. Developed with the Association of Sign Language Interpreters (ASLI), the site aims to raise the standards of interpreting for deaf and hard of hearing people.

    The site contains a range of resources and interpreters are invited to submit resources they have created that they’d like to share with others.

    Don't Lose the Music

    Prolonged exposure to loud music can cause permanent hearing damage. The Don't Lose the Music campaign provides practical advice about the things that people can do to protect their hearing from overexposure to loud music.

    Early Support programme

    Early Support is a government programme involving the Department for Education and Skills, Sure Start and the Department of Health. Based at RNID, this programme aims to improve the delivery of services to disabled children under three years old and their families.

    RNID Typetalk

    RNID Typetalk is the only national telephone relay service which enables deaf, deafblind, deafened, hard of hearing and speech-impaired people to communicate with hearing people anywhere in the world. Typetalk is run by RNID and funded by BT, a partnership that guarantees the very highest standards of service. Its aim is to bring the benefits of the telephone to individuals and employees with communication difficulties.

    New Technologies

    RNID's New Technologies team aim to use information and communication technology to break down the barriers deaf and hard of hearing people face in the modern world. The team work with users, manufacturers, service providers, governments and other stakeholders to develop technology solutions to overcome existing barriers, and prevent new barriers from being raised.
